After the break

It was a big break. I was away from the net for almost a month. When I came back, I got interested in a new craft: Sewing. This Singer Prelude sewing machine is with me for a long time. But, never felt like the need to do something. It was difficult even to thread the machine. Each time I tried the machine, I gave up with a lot of frustration. This time, the machine is kind of letting me learn. After many many hours of reading the manual and trying to find solutions, finally I was able to stitch… My very first project is altering a t-shirt. It was a bit smaller than I like. I cut a curve on both sides. Then added white fabric from another t-shirt to it. altered t-shirt

I am not sure about you, but I think, it is pretty lovely.
Now I am dreaming of all kind of up-cycling projects… Still a lot more to figure out about the machine.
I have to learn to use the darning foot. Then I need to know, how to do the simple embroidery things this machine can do.

Crochet without a cause

I just saw this empty antiperspirant bottle on the bathroom counter. It has a shape, which makes me keep it.

Sometimes, I squirrel away things to do crafting some day. Sometimes things will be thrown away after keeping for a few days. Not this time.

Do you remember the amigurumy doll I made last year? She was sitting lonely for a long time. So, i decided to give him a companion.

Now she looks happy right? I crocheted a cozy for the antiperspirant bottle first. Then, stitched the facial features. Made a small crocheted cap too. May be in the future, I can create some hair… a shirt, few buttons…

One more picture of the cute couple. (I can’t resist, you know, the showing off!!)

What do you think? Did you get any other inspiring ideas from seeing the little empty containers or bottles?
